Flip Flops Smarts: Beach Only
Now that the weather is warming up in New York City, flip flop fans are wearing them while riding bicycles. Today, I saw a woman fall off her bicycle, and land on her hip. Her flip flop slid off the pedal, causing her to lose her balance. Guessing her age, I would say mid to late fifties. Old enough to know better. Lucky for her, she was able to get up, and continue her ride.
Flip flops do not support your feet, and should never be worn during recreational activities. They are meant for beachwear, unless you want to wind up with:
- Bacterial infections
- Driving accidents
- Scrapes
- Aggravated plantar fasciitis
- Stubbed and broken toes
- Torn nail bed
- Glass cuts
- Puncture wounds
- Broken foot bones
- Sprained ankles
- Fractures
- Ligament injuries
- Insect bites
- Lawn mower injuries
- Sunburn
- Foot pain
- Trip and fall accidents
- Bone, tendon, or joint damage
- Hip, knee, or back injuries
